So what does an engineer and computer programmer know about photography? Well, if you are looking for a serious fashion type photographer then the answer is not much. But if you are looking for a photo-journalist type of photographer that has developed his eye for candid situations over more than 30 years of shooting photographs as a hobby; then quite a lot.

 

 

In addition, having been a project manager on engineering projects - projects that my firm needed to graphically explain to prospective customers - gave me the knowledge as to which aspects of the project need to be emphasized to tell the appropriate story. Not all pumping station projects need pictures that focus in on the pumps. For some, the discharge piping may be the key while for others it may be the variable frequency drives.

 

Assignments involving candid photos are typically billed at an hourly basis. Project photography are billed on a daily rate basis with 1/2 day minimum charge.

 

All photographs taken during an assignment are yours to keep and use as you wish. They are delivered on a CD or DVD with a full release. The only requests are that the "Photographer" metadata be preserved and that "Photo by Robert Smedley" be used in any bylines.
