1. To read over the Category Judging Captain's Responsibilities and the General Guidelines and Instructions for judging the Dr. Nelson Ying Orange County Science Exposition.
  2. To explain and clarify the judging procedures to the judges assigned to your category on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 7:15 a.m.
  3. To enjoy your time with the students and to help the members of your team to enjoy themselves while they interview the students.
  4. To make sure that all judges in your team have completed their interviews by 11:00 a.m. It is important that we abide by this deadline so that we can complete the grand prize judging by 12:30 p.m.
  5. To facilitate a consensus about the ranking for the category place winners and to record this information on the AWARDS FORM (Green Sheet).
  6. To make sure that your team has turned in the AWARDS FORM no later than 11:15 a.m. (Please make sure that this deadline is not missed. We need at least 15 minutes to compile the winners and the Grand Prize judging round must start at 11:45 a.m.)
  7. To select one or more team members to complete the written critique regarding the first place winner in your category. This information is passed on to the student before he/she competes at the State Fair. Please make sure that the individual(s) filling out the form knows that it needs to be turned in at the main judging table.
  8. To turn in the AWARDS FORM to Bob Smedley at the main judging table.
  9. To meet with your Final Judging Team Captain at 11:30 a.m. to discuss the grand prize judging procedures. There are a total of four Final Judging Teams as shown below. Each team will have between 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to interview the first place winners in each category. Teams will then meet at 12:30 p.m. to discuss and select the grand prize winners.
